Welcome to the K4GGWA Tutorial Hub!
Foundations for understanding land health, spatial evidence and analysis across the Great Green Wall
The K4GGWA Tutorials hub explains, in plain language, how spatial evidence supports land health and restoration decision-making across the Great Green Wall.
The tutorials are designed for decision-makers, practitioners, and analysts who want to:
- Understand how to use and interpret spatial data and maps
- Interpret and use land health indicators responsibly
- Learn how spatial data can be accessed and used to support planning, monitoring, and reporting

How this hub is organised
The Tutorials hub is structured as three foundation modules followed by practical data analysis modules. You can run through them in order, or jump to the section most relevant to your needs.
This module explains how spatial evidence is useful for restoration decisions and how maps and indicators can support better planning, prioritisation, monitoring, and reporting. By the end of the module, you should understand why it is important to engage critically with the spatial evidence you use.
This module explores how different kinds of spatial evidence are generated and how to interpret them confidently. By the end of the module, you should be able to recognise different forms of spatial evidence, understand broadly how maps and indicators are produced, and use them more responsibly with an awareness of uncertainty and limitations.
This module explores how to start working more directly with spatial evidence and data. By the end of the module, you should understand where datasets come from, how they are commonly accessed and organised, and how to begin using them in simple practical workflows.
Suggested starting point
If you are new to spatial evidence, start with:
- Module 1 to understand the role of spatial evidence in restoration decisions, then
- Module 2 to build confidence interpreting maps and indicators.
If you already work with maps and want to understand how to access datasets and go beyond dashboards, start with:
- Module 3.
Following completion of Foundation modules you can explore our Practicals section, which includes practical exercises that walk through working with example datasets - e.g., loading rasters, exploring dashboard exports, working with polygons, combining layers, simple analyses - for applied decision-making.
