Exploring local realities and data together
In phase I of Regreening Africa, the Regreening App was used by thousands of lead farmers and implementing partners to document Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) activities across Ethiopia.
Niger has been a key focus country for the Regreening App under Regreening Africa, with thousands of lead farmers and implementing partners using the app to document Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) activities across the country.
In Senegal, the Regreening App was widely adopted to document Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) activities, helping to monitor and assess the impact of regreening interventions, particularly in Fatick, Kaffrine, and Kaolak regions.
World Agroforestry (ICRAF) developed the Regreening App through a collaborative co-design process involving multiple stakeholders and projects. This mobile application enables lead farmers and implementing partners to systematically record spatial and biological data related to reforestation efforts, including tree locations, species identification, planting quantities, and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) activities.
There is increasing awareness of the need for enhanced use of evidence in the assessment of land degradation status and the factors or drivers that lead to degradation. What has been less focused on is generation for rigorous data and evidence to enable more rigorous predictive modeling to inform land restoration interventions.
